WHAT DID I LEARN this month?
You know those Pinterest pros? Not me no matter how hard I try. That’s what I learned!
Salsa? Mine turned out like a science experiment. Let’s just say it went straight to the compost. 🌶️💥
Chow-chow? Cheese cloth exploded in chow while it was simmering…it landed in the compost beside the salsa.
Blanching veggies? Tried it. Now I have a frozen stash of rubbery chunks that could bounce.
Gardening? My tomatoes looked like pumpkins, I thought celery stalk were parsnip tops and my beets were the size of marbles.
But you know what? We all have strengths, and that’s okay! I may not cook gourmet meals, but I’ve got other talents that shine. We all do.
So let’s celebrate our true selves—kitchen mishaps and all! Life’s too short for culinary, gardening and canning stress.🥂
Remember: You’re a masterpiece, even if it’s not on a dinner plate or in your cold room. Live gratefully and keep shining! ✨
CHARMING THANKSGIVING CENTERPIECE
I love creating pumpkin centerpieces for Thanksgiving dinner!
While any size works beautifully, I especially enjoy using several smaller, almost mini pumpkin arrangements. They add a charming touch to the table and bring a delightful visual appeal!
And the best part, I send one home with each family at the end of the day:)
(I have used vases in the past, but a small plastic bag (or medium freezer bag) and some floral foam block works perfectly as well for inside the pumpkin)
THE VERY BEST ICING I EVER TASTED…for real!!
If you’re seeking a standout Thanksgiving dessert, I highly recommend trying this amazing icing recipe for your cake or cupcakes. It’s a gem from the 2005 World Youth Cookbook, submitted by Marlene Perry. A true gem that will impress everyone at your table!

In bowl, beat butter, cocoa, corn syrup and vanilla. Add icing sugar and milk. Beat until spreading consistency. TIP: this recipe is tripled for a 9×11 or bunt pan cake.

APPLE CINNAMON STOVETOP POTPOURRI
I don’t think anyone loves candles more than I do—especially apple cinnamon!
I like to take a break from candles once in a while so instead of lighting a candle, homemade potpourri is the way to go for a cozy aroma that fills the house with warmth and invites comfort.
If homemade potpourri is not your vibe, try my absolute favourite scent in the world: Claire Burke Applejack and Peel Home Fragrance Oil for your diffuser

MY FAM FAV CRANBERRY APPLESAUCE
From Company’s Coming - Chicken, Etc. 1997
5 medium McIntosh apples, peeled and sliced
2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground ginger
Put all ingredients into saucepan. heat, stirring often, until it boils.
Simmer for 25 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
*I always double, sometimes triple recipe.

DID YOU KNOW…
Alternating hot and cold foot baths can help treat infections, arthritis, inflammation, venous stasis ulcers, fractures, edema, and injuries like sprains, strains, and bruises after 24 hours. I did 10 cycles of this twice a day (three times when I could).
Adding Epsom salt to the warm/hot water can enhance relaxation and reduce muscle soreness, while using ice in the cold water helps to reduce inflammation. These baths are also beneficial for improving circulation in the lower legs.
Last year, I dealt with severe foot issues that made it hard to walk, work out, or even stand as a teacher. I could only wear big sneakers.
A foot specialist suggested this home therapy, and I am positive
this was the turning point to recovery
