Dr. Wayne Dyer — How to Get Out of Your
Limiting Beliefs

Wayne Dyer probably has a thousand videos on YouTube—and I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to all of them. While he often mentions God, you don’t have to believe in God to connect with his message. I just hope you believe in something—whether it’s a spirit guide, universal energy, or a deeper sense of connection.

Out of the countless videos I could have chosen, I landed on this 20-minute teaching on How To Get Out of Your Limiting Beliefs. Maybe it’s the one you need to hear today, if not search around — I’m sure one will speak to you. 😊

Coffee Talk

(An excerpt from The Recital, 2nd Edition—in the works with a new name, a new cover, and a fresh perspective. This edition takes a deeper dive into the questions many readers have asked, along with a newly added epilogue simply titled Time — based on the bible verse A Time For Everything.)

It leaves me almost speechless to think about how much has changed since the launch of The Recital but I know one thing for certain, time is a funny thing. It is a gift and a curse and I am reminded of both equally every single day in this house.

Time has changed everything.

We beg time to speed up to get ‘through’ this, then wish it would stand still. We cling to the past while chasing a better tomorrow. We mourn what was—or what never should have been. We dream of what could be, should be, might be. We wish for different, we’re lonesome for yesterday, and pin our happiness on a future that’s always just out of reach.

Why are we never one hundred percent invested in the now?
Isn’t it really all that matters at that very moment? Now?

Before you know it, ‘now’ is much much later and you wonder where has the time gone? The biggest deception of time is you think you have all kinds of it.

The days drift by, adagio.
The seasons move, andante.
But time—oh, that sly maestro—races presto, ticking away– days, weeks, months, years… life.

Packing up our family homestead, the heartbeat of my life, is heartbreaking—can’t lie. But so was Dad’s dementia diagnosis and my brother’s cancer diagnosis. And if life has taught me anything, it’s that we don’t get to hold on forever—we get to love fiercely, let go gracefully, and carry the best of it with us.

There is a time for everything.

So today I choose to be here, in this moment, honoring the past while living in the now.

Gut Health
and the Microbiome

A term you may have heard is ‘microbiome’.

So, what is it?

Well, we have an entire network of microbiomes (including but not limited to bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts) that inhabit our body. These communities of microbes have systems which exits on our skin, in our mouths, in the gut, in the vaginal area, and — in the case of pregnancy — in the placenta.

Integrative Medicine and Family Physician

“One of my favorite topics to learn about and discuss is gut health.

Ladies, this can be an overwhelming topic but it is so important for us women to be learning about and discussing.

In many ways, health of the body, mind, and spirit stems from the gut.

Here is a brief introduction of this topic followed by some practical tips for wellness. I encourage you to read on…”

The gut microbiome is a particularly hot topic these days. Our gut health not only affects how we break down, absorb and produce nutrients, but also our immune functions, detoxing mechanisms in the body, and modulation of the nervous system.

We are just beginning to understand how disruption of microbiome may be a key player in many of our most prevalent disease including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression, anxiety, neurodegenerative disease, allergies, and cancer.

The microbiome is affected by the foods we eat, our environment, stress, physical activity, sleep quality and circadian rhythms, medications, and more; it is impacted from the time of birth through the remainder of our lives.

The mind and the gut are connected by a two way street. The gut is considered a second brain due to the complex network of nerves that it contains (think “butterflies in my stomach” or “I have a gut feeling”). As a result, what’s going on in our gut affects our brains and what’s going on in our brains affects our gut.

Actionable Tips for Optimal Gut Health

  • Add probiotic foods to your daily diet – Include fermented and cultured foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, natto, pickles, kombucha, kefir, yogurt (can be non-dairy), and tempeh. These contain “good bacteria” that support a healthy gut.

  • Eat prebiotic foods daily – These are food that good bacteria feed on, thus helping them to maintain a strong and diverse communist. These include most

vegetables, fruits, and high-fiber grains. Some of my favorite prebiotic superfood include: ground flax seeds, garlic, onions, lentils, and soybeans.

  • Practice intermittent fasting and gut rest – aim to get most of your nutrition in the earlier part of the day—avoid skipping breakfast, make lunch your largest meal and finish eating by late afternoon or early evening. (Make your fasting period later in the day and over night vs. overnight and morning.) It is also beneficial to do a water fast every so often . (I like to practice this on the day of the new moon, as it energetically symbolizes a new beginning every month.)

  • Include a variety of spices in your regular diet (e.g. ginger, tumeric, cinnamon, cumin, fennel) - these can stroke the digestive fire and are superfood heroes.

  • Limit chemicals in food– e.g.: artificial sweeteners, food dyes, processed meats, and environmental toxins from cosmetics and household cleaning products.

  • Incorporate a daily mind-body practice – e.g.: breath work, meditation. Practices that tone the Vagus Nerve can be particularly beneficial.

  • Maintain a regular sleep schedule – and improve quality of sleep.

  • Consider certain botanical medicines and supplements – These can support gut health but should be determined on an individual basis.

  • Explore whole health systems – consult with a practitioner of a whole health system such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where gut health is considered a central focus of overall health and well-being.

“This is a massive topic and the above is just scratching the surface, but it’s a good starting point for learning about this fascinating and incredibly important element of our health and wellbeing. As always, listen to your body and find what works for you.”

Be well!!

I’m Obsessed!!

One of my favourite places on all time on PEI is Island Lavender Distillery.

Smells like heaven 💜

Whether you call PEI home or are just visiting, this must be at the top of your summer destination list — a serene retreat that delights every sense.

Walk around ten acres of lavender fields and gardens, and visit the Gift Shop full of all-natural products made with Lavender Essential Oil distilled right at the farm.

You must try the hair oil — I literally want to lather this all over me all the time.
Pretty sure that sounds weird. And besides, it’s just for your hair. 💇🏻‍♀️.

To be fair, I’m obsessed with all their products — well worth the trip to Founders’ Hall in Charlottetown, and grab a coffee while you browse.

What Wires Together
Fires Together 🔥

Essentially, this means that when groups of nerve cells (or brain regions) fire together repeatedly, they create a circuit—and boom, they’re ‘locked in.’

So, what habits are we wiring together? House keys?

Nope… Car Keegs! 🚗 Beep Beep!🚗

Yep, you heard that right. I’ve started doing Kegel exercises every time I’m in the car.

Why not multitask? Strengthen pelvic muscles, support pelvic organs, and improve bladder and bowel control—all while sitting in traffic. Tighten and release to the beat of your playlist, the rhythm of the windshield wipers, or while catching up on your favorite podcast. No one will ever know.

P.S. Oh, and research suggests it might just make sex more enjoyable… just sayin’. 😉

Better When I’m Dancing
with Christina MacLean 💃 🕺

Ever notice how dancing instantly lifts your mood? Whether it’s a full-on dance party or just swaying to your favorite song, moving to music has a way of making everything feel lighter.

Science backs it up—dancing releases feel-good chemicals, reduces stress, and even boosts brain function.

I LOVE what Christina had to say and what she started with a few friend groups …check it out!

“There is a lot going on in the world at the moment. And while dancing doesn’t mean everything’s OK, it helps us get grounded in our bodies for a moment — sometimes we need a quick energy boost to shift our perspective and feel optimistic for what is in front of us.”

“I saw an instagram reel about someone who said we should dance a bit every day.

So I reached out to a couple of friend groups who I thought would be game and said, ‘let’s send each other songs that we love dancing to so that we are reminded that we, indeed, should dance each day.

Dance while getting supper ready, doing laundry, puttering, etc — just dance! Plus, it’s a fun way to discover new music.” 🎶

The song Christina forwarded to me last week was: Brand New Key. Melanie

HAPPY DANCING LADIES 💃

Styling Vs. Wearing
Ready to make a statement?

Getting dressed is just putting clothes on, but styling? Ahhh
that is where the magic happens.

It’s how you turn an outfit into
a vibe, a mood.

That’s where you show
the world who you
are without saying
a word.

Affirmation 🌸

I am capable of handling whatever comes my way today, and I embrace the
opportunity for growth and resilience. 🌸

Oh girl, I got you!

Divorced? Single parenting? Blended family a bit…much?

This is the book I desperately needed during life’s toughest moments—but when I couldn’t find it, I wrote it. Raw and unfiltered, it dives into the highs and lows, showing you how to weather life’s storms with grit, grace, and forgiveness. It’s honest, it’s real, and yes, it’s even funny—because sometimes, the hardest things in life deserve a good laugh too.

Because so much happens behind closed doors…

A funny, heartfelt page turner. Kimberly's ability to paint a visual picture with her words is second to none. I laughed. I cried. I learned. I related wholeheartedly.

This is a book for everyone. Not just the Married, The Mother or the Divorced. It is a life lesson about drama, trauma, and love and laughs.

And mostly about the relationships we are blessed to have and how music is the score of our lives.

“A must read. Of course pour yourself a glass and be prepared to laugh, relate and tell all your friends. Well done Kimberly Ann Mooney. A true storyteller. An author. A friend.”
