I found this note on my classroom floor one afternoon last week. It made me chuckle at first, then it made me reminisce of past loves that didn’t love me back at the ripe age of 10, 11, 12... 💭

 
💭Calling CFCY dedicating Bette Davis Eyes (why Betty Davis Eyes? I was so weird),
💭Falling deeper in obsessive love every time I heard ‘Truly’ by Lionel Richie,
💭Daydreaming of holding hands at skate country rollerblading to Africa by Toto.
💭and so on and so on and so on…..

Which got me to thinking again 💭 Wait a cotton pickin’ second…

This isn’t just limited to 10 year olds, and it certainly isn’t just limited to romance that’s for sure. This note could easily be about family, friends, co-workers, etc…

This simple sentence is a life class in who you never want to be—someone waiting for validation from someone else that you are good enough to be in their life. 

Ummm, Screw that all day long!

I have three things to say about people who constantly disappoint you, hurt you, ignore you, make you feel less than, and more importantly, make you feel crazy:

1) They have a dialogue written in stone about you and nothing is going to change that.
2) When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time!
3) If someone wants to walk away — Let them! Hold the door!

And further more after some life experience behind their belt, I hope this little person will someday write: I’m breaking up with you. I love me more.

I nervously approached Rev. Barry King recently at a Spiritual Wellness Event to ask a favour. I never imagined in a hundred years that I would see myself asking Rev. Barry King if I could feature him on an online magazine. Not only did he say ‘of course’, he said, ‘come over sometime this week for tea and a chat.’ I nearly fainted when he said that, but he knew that anyway because he also reads minds. We covered so much I had no idea how to write this feature but I decided to share the highlights/comments that resonated with me -it all did, but I can’t write 55 pages of notes from transcription 🤷.

Words of Wisdom:

🌱 We don’t always get what we want. We need to understand that what we want may not be for our greatest good. When you pray, ask God for what you want in your life and end each prayer with “….as it is for my greatest good.”

🌱 It’s an amazing life — take advantage of it. Don’t limit yourself. Life is about experience so don’t allow fear to control or limit you. We are so blessed.

🌱 If you can’t make mistakes you can’t grow.

🌱 People are controlled by other people’s choices.

🌱 I see many people who are chronically sick, even when they are not. This keeps attention that they crave on them. They manifest an ‘illness’ or ‘bad day’ or the ‘poor me’s’ to feed the attention they need. They can manifest unhappy like nobody’s business. They are addicted to the pattern. They need to change their thoughts, break the cycle, think happy-er.

🌱 My job as a psychic is not to fix people, it is to show people that they can fix themselves. My job is to empower them and help them understand that they can fix their own challenges.

🌱 Women are nurturers and sensitive by nature. It is a total gift, an amazing gift. Our gifts can be our greatest challenges. Women can be consumed by helping others being too busy to help themselves. They are present in other people’s problems and not present in their own lives. I see it all the time.

🌱 One of the biggest challenges with our world today is that too many people are transactional. Relationships are far too transactional If you say or do this, than I’ll say or do that. That is called conditional. We need to live unconditionally. Unconditional love, not conditional love.

🌱 What do people miss the most? They miss living. You live through choice. You makes choices, some good- some bad, but you learn and grow through choice. Don’t be afraid to fully live. Our purpose is to live.

🌱 Nothing in life is random. If it is there, it is meant to teach you something — it means something. The trick is the art of learning what it means. Why is it there? What is it trying to show me? What is it trying to teach me?

🌱 A few things that people aren’t learning enough is grace, gratitude and unconditional love/relationships. This isn’t healthy.

🌱 People need to learn to love themselves unconditionally - most don’t do that. If you don’t love yourself, you can’t love others. You need to live love.

🌱 Why are some people full of anger, and for some, it is for no reason? We forget that everyone is on a journey and everyone is in a different place. There is an unspoken assumption that we are all in the same place. People are angry sometimes because they have unrealistic expectations of the other person, or expectations in general. They are approaching life transactionally - conditionally. This is the problem. You can’t be conditional and loving. It does not exist.

🌱 We can’t live life expecting people to do or say things we expect them to say or do just because we want them to. Pure and simple, the angry person wants to control the other people. Period.

🌱 People are living their life according to them. Too many people are unaware of or don’t care how other people feel.

🌱 When someone hurts you, I guarantee it’s not about you. It’s about them. People who are controlling, manipulative, hurtful are doing it out of fear. They need to feel in control of the world. They are very transactional. They want you to do this, this, and this, THEN they’ll love you. Every single time. How do you deal with these people? You fix you first - you realize you can’t fix them. It’s not your job to fix them, it’s your job to learn how to not react to them.

🌱 People think with their heads, they should be thinking with their hearts. Listen to your hearts, stop thinking so much with your head. Your heart will tell you once you stop thinking. Be silent. Observe.

🌱 How can you live happier? It’s simple — choose to live happy. We live what we believe and if you want to be happier, then choose it. If you are unhappy it is because you are choosing not to be.

🌱 You can’t can’t can’t change someone.

Parting message about happiness:

“I mean, we choose to live — we need to choose to live happy. We need to choose to be happy. We need to understand that we move through life through choice. If you're not happy, the way you change it is to change your choices.”
